Myles Patton - LHP
Texas A&M
Patton is a left handed pitcher, formerly with Long Beach State, who recently transferred to join the runner-up Aggies. This past season saw his time cut short with injury but he still managed to start 11 games posting a 3.26 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 66.1 innings. Patton doesn’t have otherworldly stuff but he still manages to be an effective starter. His fastball merely tops out at 90mph but he pairs it with a slider that has a nasty late break to it. He has a deceptive delivery that allows him to hide the ball well as well allowing him to generate swing and misses, noted by his 84Ks in only 11 starts. Command is a struggle with his slider which may be in part due to its movement but moving to a program like Texas A&M may help refine offspeed command as well as adding a few ticks to his fastball. Going from a conference like the Big West to the SEC is a drastic difference in talent but a solid performance from Patton can see him getting noticed around the middle of the draft. The development of a third pitch is crucial to his ability to stick it as a starter.
